This is my first foray into the blogosphere, and I am feeling a lot of pressure about this initial post. I even Googled phrases like, “best first blog post,” but far from leading to the best first blog post I’ve ever read, it led to a bland instructional that suggested I keep a typical post to 181 words. (I’m only at 63!) I’m planning to post at least once a day, about lots of things: my new book, The Impostor’s Daughter: A True Memoir; my phobia of cooking anything other than chicken breast and broccoli (you’ll find posts about that under “The Terrified Chef”)—my encounters with celebrities as a cover story writer for Glamour magazine; life in Brooklyn, NY; and my shameful, ongoing love affair with reality TV, particularly The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise, which has dominated my Monday nights for the past several years months. Please feel free to share your opinions, ask advice, or just say hello. This blog is officially open for business!

I meant to say that I understood your shame. Your article in Glamour about your sleeping pill addiction really hit me. Though I have never struggled through an addiction I related to the loneliness that you seemed to be going through. I am really looking forward to your book. Enjoy everything that comes your way.

i’m on recreational xanax (sp?) right now. I’ve never followed (or contributed to) a blog before. I’m intrigued. Good luck.

Thanks for that, Yates; I really appreciate it. I’ll post that article as soon as I get my act together.

Hey there. Nice site you got here. I walked up and down the aisle, peeked around here and there… I’m very impressed.
And I appreciate your candor about reality TV. I used to have a serious thing for Jolly Rancher jellybeans, mindlessly gobbling through half a bag at a time, and that kind of jonesing has only recently been replaced by watching Top Chef. Mind you, the height of my culinary skills is a green-pepper/mushroom omelette and my watching the show has nothing to do with wanting to learn how to make a creme brulee or something that ends with frisette. No, it’s all about Padma. She’s my first TV crush since Laura Petrie (”Oh, Rob!!!”). I like how she arrives before the contestants like a genie called forth from a lamp, explaining a quickfire challenge like she would the whole three wishes thing. But I’m sure this too shall pass. I’m starting to hear rumors about a ‘Real Housewives of Toledo.’ Now that’s gonna be some real reality!
Bravo (no pun intended) on your new site! Look forward to reading more.
