…Just in time to miss all the rain. I’m on the plane right now, using American Airlines’ in-flight e-mail service. Turbulence is horrible. At least I was upgraded to bizizniss. And the guy sitting next to me just whipped out New York Magazine and read my Jules Feiffer piece. I always thought if I ever saw anyone reading my work I’d lean over and say, “I did that.” But when push came to shove, I was just too shy.
Had a great two weeks in New York. On Thursday, I went to Minetta Tavern with Ariel Foxman (Brooke Shields sighting); on Saturday I helped Amanda Stern celebrate her birthday (dinner at her mom’s amazing townhouse in the West Village); on Sunday I read from my book for a group of seniors at John Jay College (the woman who booked me, Norma, provided this bit of wisdom, “Never judge a shnook by its cover.”) Just watched Couples Retreat, which was surprisingly hilarious; now I’m going to give my brain cells the respect they deserve with a few episodes of The Wire.
