I’ll be Presenting at The Eisner Awards Ceremony

Awards, Blog, Comics

I’ve just been asked to be a presenter at the Eisner Awards Ceremony two weeks from tonight…this is getting very real! First, I can’t believe my book is even nominated for one of these things. It’s like writing a novel in obscurity, that doesn’t turn into a bestseller, and all of sudden it’s handed a National Book Award nomination. Apparently, I will be co-presenting with my fellow nominee Carol Tyler, who I met at the Miami Book Fair (and loved). Are we expected to make shtick-y small talk? Will we come out onstage and talk to each other while looking out at the audience, saying things like (I don’t even know what category we’re presenting in so I’m making this up):

Laurie: “Hey Carol, the ‘Best One-Shot’ I know is someone who never called me again. Do we really want to give this person an award?”

Carol: “I know what you mean, Laurie. The nominees are…”

Expect lots of photos on this blog. Amanda just told me Brangelina is going to be there. One of my books is going DIRECTLY into their goody bag. Even though it has adult content, I think Maddox has seen enough of the world to handle it. If it goes into a second printing, I’m going to ask him for a blurb.

LADY! Will you give my regards to all the millions of celebs that will fall in love with your book (those that are not smart enough to have already purchased it)? I would like to marry Bradley Cooper, so if you could put in a good word for me…

    Wow. Very exciting. YAy.
