You know when it starts to get chilly outside; you’re done trimming the tree, and you’re just in the mood for a light, funny film? Well, last night I treated myself to the Oprah Winfrey-produced Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. And it did not disappoint: Not since The Santa Clause 2 have I laughed so hard and gotten so into the holiday spirit, all while stuffing my face with delicious, buttery popcorn.

Mo'Nique, you kidder, you!
Gabourey Sidibe is simply hilarious as an obese, pregnant teen who struggles to escape her hellish home. Mo’Nique will have you slapping your knee in the role of her abusive mother. OK, time to get serious: If this movie doesn’t rack up some Oscars, I’m going to be forced to think all Hollywood cares about is romcoms and Transformers movies. Precious is original. It’s devastating. It’s important. And have I mentioned it’s hilarious? So grab a gaggle of girlfriends and go–and get ready to smile until your cheeks hurt. Not.

I just read four weeks worth of your blog while listening to Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance on repeat. I already thought you were awesome but that song made you seem even more awesome.
Glad to hear that the movie is as funny as the book!
